Players Can't Join My BeamMP Server

Your server is running, maybe it's even showing up in the list, but players are getting errors when they try to join. Let's figure out why.

Quick Checklist

Run through these in order — they cover 90% of connection issues:

1. Is the Server Actually Running?

Check your panel. Look at the console. If you see errors or the server shows as stopped, that's your problem. Start it up and check the console for crash messages.

2. Version Mismatch

Both the server and the player's BeamMP launcher need to be on compatible versions. If a player just updated their BeamMP client, your server might need an update too (or vice versa).

Fix: Check for server updates in your panel. Players should make sure their BeamMP launcher is up to date.

3. Mod Conflicts

This is a big one. If you recently added mods and now players can't join (or they crash while loading), a mod is probably the culprit.

Fix:

  1. Disable all mods using the Mod Manager toggles
  2. Restart the server
  3. Try connecting
  4. If it works, re-enable mods one at a time to find the problem mod

4. Max Player Limit Reached

If your server is full, new players can't join. Check the MaxPlayers setting in your Config Editor.

5. Player's Mods Conflicting

Sometimes it's not your server — it's the player's local mods. Ask them to:

  1. Clear their BeamMP mod cache
  2. Disable any local mods
  3. Try connecting again

6. Connection Timeout

If players are timing out, it might be:

  • Too many mods: Players have to download all your server mods on first connect. If you have gigabytes of mods, it might time out. Consider trimming your mod list.
  • Server overloaded: Check your RAM and CPU usage in the panel. If you're maxed out, you might need to upgrade your plan or reduce mods/player count.

7. Direct Connect Issues

If players are using Direct Connect, make sure they're entering the right IP and port. The correct address is shown at the top of your panel. Common mistakes:

  • Adding http:// before the IP (don't)
  • Wrong port number
  • Extra spaces

Error Messages

Here are common errors players might see and what they mean:

  • "Connection timed out" — Server isn't reachable or is overloaded
  • "Server is full" — MaxPlayers limit hit
  • "Version mismatch" — Client/server version incompatibility
  • "Disconnected" — Usually a mod crash, check console

Still Stuck?

Check your Console tab for error messages around the time a player tries to join. The logs almost always tell you what went wrong. If you can't figure it out, reach out to support with a screenshot of the console errors.
